Catch Imani Uzuri In Transit: Love Story- Songs of Laughter, Loss, & Resilience on tour!
The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit and Joe’s Pub at The Public present Imani Uzuri’s Love Story: Songs of Laughter, Loss, and Resilience, a concert of her original music. Imani was most recently the composer of the Mobile Unit’s fall 2016 production of Hamlet.
The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit is a reinvention of Joseph Papp’s “Mobile Theater,” which began in 1957. Papp’s original touring company evolved into the New York Shakespeare Festival, and ultimately became The Public Theater. All of it was built on a simple idea: Culture belongs to everyone.
The Mobile Unit presents free performances to prisons, homeless shelters, and community centers throughout New York’s boroughs.
