VR to hit 30 million headset shipments by 2020 in large part to the Chinese market

Juniper Research just recently published a report which positions the VR market to reach 30 million headsets worldwide by 2020 with hardware retail revenue from VR HMD headset sales will exceed $4 billion by 2020. This is up dramatically from the 3 million they predict will ship in 2016 when we expect to see the devices from Sony, Oculus and HTC hit the faces of users.

Juniper suggests that much of this grownth will come from China which will witness an increased development and production activities, driven by a sharp rise in consumer demand.

AWE Asia takes place at China’s first Industrial AR Park

AWE Asia will coincide with the launch of the world’s first innovation park dedicated to AR planned for fall 2015. The International Augmented Reality Park will be located at the high-tech Development Zone at the Software Park in Xi’an.

The park will cover an area of 4000 square meters leveraging Metro locations. It is built to support enterprises, institutions, laboratory based research and foster technology development and application development. This includes free offices, potential capital investments, and helping to build infrastructure and relationships in the Chinese market.
