DANCE — The fabulous Edisa Weeks and DELIRIOUS DANCES 7/2/15 THREE RITES 7pm — MFTA Warehouse *nyc

One of our favorite choreographers in life is the remarkable Edisa Weeks of Delirious Dances.

Edisa has a busy summer.

DELIRIOUS is the first dance company to be in residence, and we are work-shopping Three Rites a visual installation/movement piece in collaboration with painter Mark Turgeon about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

MFTA helps keep stuff out of landfills by accepting donations from companies, museums, stores and individuals, and then recycling the donations to nonprofit organizations, teachers and artists for creative projects. They also offer workshops and classes for people to experience creative reuse up close.

The residency culminates in a FREE work-in-progress showing in the MFTA Warehouse on Thursday July 2 at 7pm.

Edisa is choreographing for The Power of the Trinity, a ritual-play-musical about the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie. Workshop showings on June 14 + 15 at 4pm at The Triad/Stage 72, NYC.
Writer: Roland Wolf
Director: Dominic Taylor
Producer: Dan Whitten/Tiger Theatricals

“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”
– Haile Selassie

Edisa is designing and embellishing hair & heads at the chashama 20th anniversary Gala on Monday June 8.

Last year The Real Deal described Delirious Hair Designs as the Gala high point and that,“The hair designers were amazing. Each person who asked got an original hair design, each more creative than the last.”
For this year’s gala, guests will meander through the former Conde Nast digs on 42 St. and experience performances and interactive art by the remarkable Julie Atlas Muz, Ambrose Martos, Babatunde Ajiboye, Racoco Dance Productions, Faux-Real Theatre and more!
