Happy Holidays from DAMAGEDANCE!
We’re already preparing for a HUGE 2015, read on and see what December’s all about for us at DAMAGEDANCE.

Brace yourself for WannaBe…on film!

The collaboration between Jessica Taylor, Ximena Borges and dancers Kyle Rostan and Sarah Zielinski resulted in DAMAGEDANCE’s first short film endeavor, experimenting with identity, insecurity, comedy and public reaction. We can’t wait to share WannaBe with you-stay on the lookout for the film in the upcoming weeks, we’re nearly there!

DAMAGEDANCE Open Rehearsal

Dive into the creative process with Jessica Taylor/DAMAGEDANCE January 8, 2015 1:00-3:00pm at DANY Studios and be the first to see movement before it hits the stage!

To attend, RSVP to – limited space available!

In the meantime, check out these rehearsal shots by Matthew Polis!

Back in the Studio…
After a fantastic evening at Dixon Place, DAMAGEDANCE jumped right back into the studio to start creating something unprecedented for DD.
Artistic Director Jessica Taylor is setting a new duet on founding dancer Kyle Rostan and herself! To add to the noteworthiness of Taylor’s debut performance with DD, it will premiere at DD’s much-anticipated 5 Year Anniversary Celebration next spring of 2015.
In collaboration with the talented sound designer (and DD’s amazing photographer) Matthew Polis, we are in the process of beginning a new group creation!

The piece will explore the use of layered sound in a complex set up involving individual headphones for the dancers. Taylor’s vision will create multiple experiences, one for the audience and one for each of our talented dancers.

Keep an eye out for updates about our new duet and collaboration! We’ll need your support when our Kickstarter campaign is set up!

Call Me She
Jessica Taylor is currently under her third creative workshop installment for the movement-based theater piece, Call Me She, in collaboration with The Purple Threads Ensemble director Danielle Velkoff and writer Jen Browne. The project is set to become a full scale production in 2015!

Welcome New Interns!
Brit Wallis, originally of Texas, had the wonderful opportunity to begin dancing at the age of 3. For 14 years of her life, she danced professionally and got to work with several companies including Hope Stone Dance, NobleMotion, Molly Rabinowitz/LiquidGrip, Susan Marshall and Luna Negra Dance Theater. Brit recently moved to Brooklyn, NY looking for new adventures, including interning for DAMAGEDANCE!

Laurel Higa, a native of Hawaii, started her dance training at the age of 4 in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Hula. She has always been passionate about storytelling through movement and utilized it as a creative and emotional outlet. She recently graduated from Manhattanville College as a B.A in Dance & Theatre with a concentration in Dance Therapy and a minor in Psychology. Laurel is hoping our team of dancers will teach her something about herself and art.
