Holiday Gift Guide — We LOVE handcrafted jewelry artisan Laura King and LORALYN DESIGNS

We at LuckyGirl MEDIA think that stainless steel jewelry might be a good fit for this upcoming holiday.

Stainless Steel Jewelry has been growing in popularity over the past couple years vs silver because of its affordability, durability and the fact that it will not tarnish.  Because of its hard nature, it is a material that is typically mass produced by manufacturers which means finding unique pieces quite can be challenging.

Loralyn Designs offers a wide range of artisan handmade stainless steel jewelry for both men and women.

There are designs for all ages ranging in style from industrial to urban and gothic.

Owner Laura King and Loralyn Designs are active members of The Artisan Group, a collective of mostly female artisans whose work is entirely handmade.

Why Loralyn Designs?  :

  • Trendy, unique and affordable (all under $100)
  • Customizable Jewelry:  Choose your your center color (on applicable designs, over 20 available)
  • Stainless Steel Jewelry (most): Will not tarnish, great for sensitive skin.

Through The Artisan Group, Loralyn Designs products have been included in swag bags at the Cannes Film Festival, been featured in the County Music Awards and (GBK) Oscars gifting event, and 3 of our necklaces have been worn on the hit TV show, The Vampire Diaries.

We were especially intrigued by the Reversible Antiqued Silver Filigree Pendant Necklace.

We asked her about it:

Background on the design:
Before creating the reversible necklace I had two completely different aesthetics in my jewelry line.  One, a section of medieval filigree designs and two, a section for clean lined industrial designs.   I wanted to expand on my current selections but wasn’t sure which direction to go in.  So instead of heading down the right or left path, I went right down the middle.  So excited how it turned out and that it is so versatile.

The design was started by taking our popular steel circle pendant, flattening and enlarging it to really make this a statement piece –

In a search for a pattern to soften the geometry, I came across the mandala, a geometrical pattern described by wikipedia as a “spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe”.   The repeating geometric pattern is known to have a calming effect and is often used in meditation.  What really struck me is that this is a design that has been around for ages, can even be found in ancient christian symbols.  It was perfect!

We recommend browsing through her catalog and finding the pieces you love.
